A distinctive BEAMS GOLF short-sleeve fleece pullover made in Japan, combining technical golfwear construction with the colourful, slightly retro sportswear aesthetic associated with BEAMS’ more casual golf pieces.

The body is constructed from 100% polyester fleece in a saturated royal blue, giving the garment a soft, lightweight and tactile finish. Rather than using a conventional polo collar, BEAMS has built the piece around a substantial funnel-style stand collar and extended snap-button placket. The placket is finished in contrasting red nylon with tonal red press studs, while white trim runs around the inside edge of the collar.

White BEAMS GOLF embroidery sits prominently on the chest, with additional BEAMSGOLF embroidery positioned centrally beneath the rear collar. The short sleeves and fleece body give it an unusual crossover silhouette somewhere between a polo, lightweight fleece and vintage warm-up top.

The elasticated ribbed waistband draws the hem inward to create a slightly blousoned sportswear shape rather than the straight hem of a conventional golf shirt. That detail, together with the bold blue/red palette and snap neckline, gives the piece considerable off-course appeal as Japanese sportswear or casual streetwear.

The internal style marking reads 18F-OM052, which is consistent with a 2018 Fall/Winter production reference. The garment is also clearly labelled Made in Japan, a worthwhile detail for collectors of older BEAMS product.

Condition is excellent, with little to no obvious wear visible across the fleece, embroidery, collar, placket or ribbing.

The division was already entering its fifth year by the 2016 Spring/Summer season, with contemporary reporting distinguishing its casual, outdoor-influenced Orange Label from the more traditional and refined Purple Label.

This piece sits firmly within that Japanese reinterpretation of golf apparel: functional enough for sport, but designed with considerably more visual character than traditional golfwear.
