Fred Perry’s F2303 brings two familiar outerwear styles together in one distinctive Japan-market coat. Officially named the Duffle Mods Coat, it pairs the long shape and adjustable rear hem of a mods parka with the leather loops and horn-effect toggles associated with a traditional duffle coat.

The four toggle closures are backed by a full metal zip and snap-fastened storm placket. A muted blue zip tape adds a small point of contrast against the dark cotton body. Antique brass-tone hardware, brown cowhide loops and black horn-effect toggles give the front a strong period look without making the coat feel overly traditional.

The removable hood can be taken off to expose the structured stand collar. Other details include adjustable buttoned cuffs, two angled patch pockets, hood and hem drawcords, and tonal Laurel Wreath embroidery at the chest.
The colour was officially sold as dark navy and described by a Japanese retailer as appearing almost black. In person it reads as a washed black or deep charcoal, with a subtle navy or olive cast depending on the light.

Product code F2303 appears on the Japanese care label. A surviving Japanese retailer record lists colour 01 Dark Navy and a retail price of ¥30,800.

Founded by three-time Wimbledon champion Fred Perry in 1952, the label began with sportswear before becoming closely connected with British street style. Its Laurel Wreath shirts were adopted by modernists during the 1960s and later appeared across ska, soul, football casual and British music scenes.

That movement from sportswear into subculture remains central to Fred Perry. The F2303 reflects this history by combining duffle-coat references with the mods parka, then reworking both into the slimmer proportions associated with the brand’s Japanese market.
