Description
A particularly good example of BEAMS PLUS’s Japanese interpretation of traditional American shirting.
This short-sleeve pullover shirt is constructed in a lightweight blue and off-white striped seersucker-style fabric, giving the surface its characteristic puckered texture. The fabric, relaxed summer construction and short sleeves make it particularly suited to warm-weather wear while retaining the sharper structure of a traditional button-down shirt.
The design combines several details associated with BEAMS PLUS’s longstanding interest in mid-century American menswear: a button-down collar, abbreviated pullover front placket, single rounded chest pocket, rear centre box pleat and locker loop, curved shirt-tail hem and contrasting orange “+” bartack at the lower side seam.
The orange cross detail is particularly characteristic of BEAMS PLUS and provides a subtle piece of branding without relying on a large exterior logo.
BEAMS’ current documentation for its Indigo Seersucker Pullover describes the design as being informed by 1960s American-made button-down shirts, with Japanese production, carefully controlled stitching and pattern matching.
The blue-and-off-white stripe works naturally with chinos, fatigues, denim, shorts or wider trousers and sits comfortably within Ivy, Japanese Americana, workwear-adjacent and contemporary casual wardrobes.
Made in Japan.
This example is in very good pre-owned condition. There are several very small/faint spot marks scattered across the fabric. These do not significantly affect the overall appearance but are documented and reflected in the condition grade.

About the Brand
BEAMS PLUS was established as a specialist menswear label within Japanese retailer BEAMS, taking classic American clothing as its foundation and rebuilding it through Japanese manufacturing, fabric development and detailing.
Its design vocabulary draws heavily from the 1940s through mid-1960s American wardrobe, encompassing Ivy League shirting, military clothing, workwear, sportswear and outdoor garments rather than simply reproducing individual vintage pieces.
BEAMS describes the label’s objective as creating authentic men’s clothing that can be worn for many years, using the broad spectrum of clothing that formed the American uniform of the 1940s–1960s as its reference point.
That approach is particularly evident in pieces such as this: recognisably traditional button-down shirting, but executed with Japanese fabrics, manufacturing and subtle BEAMS PLUS-specific details.
