Description
An exceptional example of THE NORTH FACE Purple Label’s oversized mountain outerwear. Released for Autumn/Winter 2022, the NP2201N 65/35 Big Mountain Parka takes the construction of a traditional 1970s mountain parka and redraws it with a much wider, more contemporary silhouette.
The Chianti colourway gives the jacket a rich red finish that sits somewhere between burgundy and faded crimson. It is paired with a dark olive lining and grey front zipper. These contrasting colours bring definition to the design without taking away from its practical outdoor character.
The shell is made from Purple Label’s signature 65/35 Bayhead Cloth. This polyester and cotton blend has a tightly woven finish with a water-repellent treatment. It was developed to retain the substantial appearance of traditional outdoor cotton while improving weather resistance and drying performance.
Four large gusseted pockets cover the front. The two chest pockets and two lower utility pockets have angular protective flaps. A full-length zipper sits beneath a storm flap secured with THE NORTH FACE branded metal press studs. Further details include a large lined hood, leather cord stops, adjustable cuffs, an internal waist drawcord and a secure interior zip pocket.
This example is tagged S but was designed as a genuine big silhouette. With a 66cm chest width and 77cm length, it is better suited to a relaxed M or regular L depending on the intended silhouette.

Near-new preowned condition. The shell, lining, pockets, hood and trims are exceptionally well preserved. The jacket retains its original shape and rich Chianti colouring. All zippers, press studs, drawcords and leather cord stops are present and working correctly.
Visible Flaws
No holes, stains, tears or significant marks were found. Only minimal superficial wear is visible on some metal hardware under close inspection.

THE NORTH FACE Purple Label is a Japanese line produced under the creative direction of Nanamica. It reworks familiar North Face outdoor designs through a distinctly Japanese approach to proportion, colour and construction.
The line is particularly known for combining archival mountaineering references with materials intended for everyday use. Its 65/35 outerwear has become one of the clearest expressions of that approach. Traditional field jackets and mountain parkas are retained in recognisable form, then updated through revised silhouettes, considered detailing and unusual seasonal colours.
