Description

The North Face Summit Series Lhotse down jacket, product code NFD00B63, in a striking blue and black colourway.

Released for the Korean market around 2011, this is a rare early-2010s Summit Series version of the Lhotse, particularly uncommon to find in this blue/black colour combination and in a tagged 110 / XXL. Compared with more common The North Face down jackets, this model is much less frequently seen on the Western resale market, giving it additional appeal for collectors and buyers interested in older technical TNF pieces.

The jacket combines the visual language of classic The North Face expedition outerwear with Summit Series technical construction. It uses a lightweight ripstop nylon outer with substantial 800-fill-power goose down insulation, giving it excellent loft without the bulk associated with lower-grade down.

The colour blocking is particularly strong: vivid alpine blue through the main body and sleeves is contrasted by a black shoulder yoke and high collar. White The North Face embroidery appears at the chest, with the period Summit Series mountain emblem embroidered on the upper sleeve and an “800” fill-power mark near the opposite cuff.

Technical details include a full-length front zip, two zipped hand pockets, a hood that stores into the collar, adjustable Velcro cuffs and a drawcord-adjustable hem. The black interior carries a subtle repeating Summit Series motif together with the woven Summit Series neck label.

The Lhotse name has substantial history within The North Face and was used across the brand’s expedition-focused outerwear lines. In this older Summit Series specification, the jacket sits distinctly apart from the more common lifestyle-focused TNF puffers that dominate the resale market today.

This example is tagged 110 / XXL and measures a substantial 66cm pit to pit, making it especially wearable for buyers seeking a larger vintage technical silhouette. It remains well lofted and presents strongly overall, with only minor marks consistent with previous use. Detailed condition photographs are provided below.

About the Brand

The North Face was established in San Francisco in 1966 as a mountaineering retailer before moving into the design and manufacture of its own technical outdoor equipment. The brand became closely associated with expedition clothing, alpine equipment and high-performance cold-weather systems.

Summit Series was formally named in 2000 as The North Face’s pinnacle technical line, developed for athletes and expeditions operating in demanding mountain environments. The range has historically concentrated on high-performance materials, insulation and layering systems rather than general lifestyle outerwear.

That background is particularly relevant to this jacket: unlike a standard lifestyle puffer, NFD00B63 carries period Summit Series branding, 800-fill-power down and technical construction associated with the line’s alpine positioning.
